About this tool

Batch scanning with an automatic document feeder almost always produces blank pages — the backs of single-sided originals, separator sheets, or the empty last page of each stapled set. Deleting them by hand in a 200-page scan is miserable. This tool finds them for you by actually looking at the pixels of every page.

Detection measures each page's "ink coverage" — the fraction of pixels that aren't near-white. Pages below the threshold are marked as blank. Real-world scans are never perfectly white (there's always sensor noise, hole-punch shadows, or a faint crease), which is why the sensitivity slider exists: nudge it up to catch noisy blanks, down if it's flagging sparse-but-real pages like section dividers.

Nothing is removed silently. Every detected page is highlighted in the thumbnail grid for review, and you can toggle any page in or out of the removal set with a click before committing.

Frequently asked questions

How does the tool decide a page is blank?

It renders each page and measures the proportion of non-white pixels. Pages below your sensitivity threshold (e.g. less than 0.3% ink) are marked blank. You always get to review the marks before anything is removed.

Will it catch pages with faint scanner noise?

Yes — that's exactly what the sensitivity slider is for. Raising it treats pages with a little noise, bleed-through or hole-punch shadows as blank.

Could it delete a page with real content?

Only if you let it. Detected pages are highlighted for review first, and you can click any thumbnail to override the detection in either direction before removing.

Does this work on text PDFs too, or just scans?

It works on any PDF. The analysis is purely visual, so truly empty pages in digital documents are caught the same way as blank scanned sheets.
